For four decades, an evening out from a Cabo Del Sol home meant a decision at the gate: turn right toward Cabo San Lucas or left toward San José del Cabo. The community was built around golf and beach, and dinner was somebody else's zip code. That premise no longer holds. As of December 2025, a walkable open-air village sits inside the community itself, and by late 2026 the roster of what a homeowner can reach without touching the Transpeninsular will look nothing like it did two years ago.
This is a note for people who already live here. What follows is what's open, what's coming, which chefs showed up, and where the art lives.
The village that changed the driveway math
Ánima Village is the newest project inside Cabo Del Sol, designed by Sordo Madaleno, the same architectural firm behind the Park Hyatt Cabo del Sol and Solaz Los Cabos. With over 23,000 sqm of leasable area across plazas, terraces, and shaded pathways, it is closer in scale and intent to a small neighborhood than to a mall.
The physical language matters if you have watched the Corridor fill in with beige boxes. Designed by Sordo Madaleno's SOMA firm, Ánima Village uses stone, terracotta, and open courtyards to blend into the desert landscape instead of feeling like a big glass box dropped from the sky. Address for anyone routing a driver: Cabo Del Sol, Carretera Transpeninsular Km 10.3. Village hours run 10 AM to 9 PM.
What is actually open right now
The first phase debuted in December 2025. The tenant mix leans toward everyday-luxury rather than trophy flagships, which is useful information if you were expecting Louis Vuitton on day one. Phase two is where the true haute-couture flagships are penciled in.
Retail currently trading includes:

The brands available in December included Abercrombie & Fitch, AllSaints, Alo Yoga, Bath & Body Works, Birkenstock, Coach, Colombian Corner, Columbia, Farm Rio, Golden Goose, Guess, Hugo Boss, Lululemon, Mac Store, Maje, Nike, Psycho Bunny, Salomon, Sandro, Scalpers, Sephora, Sisley, Skims, Sunglass Hut, Zadig & Voltaire, and Zimmermann.
The chefs who cooked opening night
Retail is the frame. Food is why residents will come back on a Tuesday. The opening event tells you which culinary community Ánima has aligned itself with, and it is not the hotel-lobby circuit.
The culinary experience unfolded through celebrated chefs from Los Cabos: Javier Galindo of La Lupita, Eliana Padilla of Yaya Restaurant at Chileno Bay, Yvan Mucharraz of Comal at Chileno Bay, and Xavier Salomon, Executive Chef at Montage, alongside his team Eric Arellano and Alejandro Euroza. If you have eaten at Comal or Yaya and wondered where those kitchens' sensibility would migrate next, the answer is a fifteen-minute walk from your driveway.
The centerpiece bar on debut night was a Casa Dragones bar serving the "Aura" cocktail, created exclusively for Ánima Village by mixologist Alfredo Pineda.
An art platform, not a mall installation
Most retail projects treat art as parking-lot sculpture. Ánima built a program.
The evening featured the debut of Arte Abierto Baja, Ánima Village's experimental platform for contemporary art. The inaugural installation, by internationally acclaimed Mexican artist Abraham Cruzvillegas, was created on-site using locally sourced materials. Conceived as a sculptural self-portrait of Ánima Village, the piece reflects Cabo's mineral landscape, building culture, and collective energy.
Cruzvillegas is not a decorative pick. He is one of the most exhibited living artists working from Mexico, and the fact that Arte Abierto opened with a site-specific commission from him rather than a rented piece signals what the program intends to be. Pathway performances rounded out the debut: a magic act by Diego Winburn and real-time haikus by poet Lea Wonder, sparked by each visitor interaction.
The takeaway for a homeowner: the walk from your gate now includes a working art program, not just retail signage. That is unusual for a golf community anywhere on the peninsula.
What sits behind the village
Ánima did not arrive in isolation. It is the visible layer of a five-year investment cycle that has quietly changed what "amenity" means inside Cabo Del Sol.
Four Seasons Resort and Residences Cabo San Lucas at Cabo del Sol premiered in May 2024 with 96 guest rooms and 61 branded residences, including luxe villas and estates. The following year brought the Park Hyatt. Park Hyatt Los Cabos at Cabo del Sol opened with 163 guestrooms and a 59,000-square-foot fitness and wellness center, the largest in Los Cabos.
The wellness-center number is the one worth sitting with. Fifty-nine thousand square feet is roughly the footprint of a full-line grocery store. For residents, it means the closest serious spa and gym is now inside the community rather than at Palmilla or Chileno Bay.
Golf underwent its own reshuffle. The Cabo Del Sol Course now includes six new Fry/Straka-designed holes completed over the past three summers, with plans to remodel the remaining Tom Weiskopf holes over the next couple of years. The oceanfront 17th hole that helped put the Los Cabos region on the golf destination map when the layout opened in 1994 is gone; sitting where that famed hole's green was is an infinity-edge pool and a gleaming Beach Club, all part of the members-only Cove Club.
What lands next
Two dates are worth marking on a resident calendar.
Soho House, a global club for creatives, is set to open in November 2026 in Cabo, blending Soho's signature concept with views of the desert, golf course, and beach. The first phase will include 15 bedrooms, 12 casas and three casonas, along with a branded Soho Health Club. Phase two will feature 45 private residences ranging from two to four bedrooms and five villas with three and four bedrooms.
The ownership picture behind all of this shifted quietly last year. Oakmont Corporation sold a controlling interest of 51 percent in Cabo del Sol holdings to RLH Properties, a Mexico City-based asset management company, in September 2025. RLH is the ownership vehicle behind several of Mexico's most polished hospitality assets. The pace of openings since the transaction is not coincidence.
A resident's short list for a first visit
If you have not walked the village yet, a compact plan:
- Arrive at 5:30 PM. Retail is open until 8, the light is warm, and the courtyards are quiet before dinner traffic.
- Start at Arte Abierto Baja. The Cruzvillegas installation is meant to be circled slowly, and the small booklet on his source materials is genuinely worth reading.
- Stop for a cocktail at the Casa Dragones bar and ask whether the Aura is on the current menu.
- Dinner at whichever concept from the opening-night chefs has taken up permanent residence. The Chileno Bay kitchens are the ones to prioritize.
- Loop back through Sandro, Zimmermann, or Golden Goose on the way out. These stores keep Mexico-adjusted inventory that differs from their LA or New York branches.
Why this reframes the community
The old resident calculation was simple: golf, beach, dinner reservation somewhere else, drive home. The new calculation includes a walkable evening. That is not a small change. It removes the single most-cited friction of Corridor living, which is the fact that everything social lives at the ends of a twenty-mile road. A community that used to define itself by what it sent you out toward now has a center of its own.
For a homeowner considering how to use the property differently this season, the honest answer is that the neighborhood has more to offer within its own gates than it did the last time you paid attention. And with Soho House opening in November, that trajectory is still accelerating.
